Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
⭐6/10
Neither Jess or I had seen this movie, so this was actually her choice and she was instantly mortified. The whole premise of this movie is that Ron is part of a 70s news team that is trying to diversify, so they hire a woman. The news team is incredibly sexist, and while these are by no means good guys, and it's a parody of sexist work culture, I still don't think this movie gets made today. Definitely some things that are funny, but others that haven't aged well at all.
So yeah, the whole thing is maybe a little uncomfortable, but there were other moments that had me dying. Maybe it's because I was a few edibles deep, but the scene on the bridge made me pause the movie because I couldn't breathe. I also loved that acapella part and have rewatched it a few times already.
I'm not the biggest Will Ferrell fan, and this movie is a lot of Will Ferrell. Conversely I'm Todd Packer's biggest fan, but he's not in this too much... But when he is, he's amazing.
Anyways, you all know what this movie is. It's absolutely ridiculous and if you like stupid movies, it's sure to please. Even when you know it's dumb, it's the parts where it reaches unexpected depths of idiocy that are the best. Go in with minimum one edible when watching.
