The Office (Season 3)

⭐ 10.0/10

Peak TV right here. Every episode is a great, and I love the introduction of some fresh blood. Andy in particular, who makes Michael seem chill with his puppy dog spunk. The balance between the characters really takes off, and it feels like every episode has a classic moment.

I did find this season I kept wondering how in the world Michael still has a job, how Jan could possible humour him, how the whole office wouldn't just walk out. He is so insensitive and mean sometimes, but you always come back and root for him. Amazing performance. The premiere is Oscar coming out, which is such a sensitive topic that Michael botches in the worst way a million times, but its still so funny. We get Prison Mike here, which is funny.

There were several episodes that kind of snuck up on me, like the Diwali one, or where Michael threatens to jump off the roof, that I barely remembered had me laughing for the first time. The hardest I laughed was this random Dwight line I had no memory of, where someone is mentioning a race time and he says "I could be that on a skateboard". Something about the unexpected delivery and how silly it was just killed me, had to pause the episode to catch my breath.

Its interesting that this is here Jim and Pam kind of take a break, and its annoying to see her get back with Roy. I have read a lot of hate for Pam online, since Karen and Jim are pretty good together, but this time around its clearly Jim who is the problem! Complete flirt, too charming and dorky for his own good, has all these nice women fall for him. Karen is great and he completely leads her on, and keeps butting into Pam's relationship even when he is with someone else. It actually annoyed me, and annoyed Pam, and she had every right to feel that way.

That being said the finale is a top 5 season finale of any show ever. Pam's reaction to Jim in that last moment is so pure and emotional, the climax of three seasons of will-they-won't-they, and shoutout to Jenna Fischer for nailing it. Its so small but makes me tear up every time.

Not sure if this or 4 are the apex, but we are part way through 4 and it already has me wondering if the best is now behind us. There are still many incredible moments to come, but I've always believed the show is better before Jim and Pam actually get together (and a couple other reasons I'm sure I'll get in to later). What a perfect diamond of a season.
