Extremely underrated Disney movie in my opinion. This movie explores the Latin holiday the day of the dead and focuses on one boy’s adventure to finding out his family’s legacy and what that means for him.

There are a lot of great aspects to this movie. It’s fantastical, funny, very endearing and tugs on the heart strings a lot.

I absolutely love this idea they explore in this movie of how you don’t truly pass away until your memory is forgotten by your loved ones. It’s inevitable eventually, as the movie explores. But no one wants to be forgotten! And that’s why it’s important to leave a good, lasting legacy.

I would argue that this idea of the afterlife is more fleshed out and a bit more biblical than the evangelical view of the afterlife, but maybe gets a bad rap because it focuses on dead people instead of the promised resurrection.

I think of people that have passed away in my life, and love the idea that they aren’t really gone because their memory lives on in me and my family. It’s powerful stuff and highly recommend this if you haven’t seen it yet.
