Blacktop Wasteland - S.A. Cosby

⭐ 8.0/10

(Originally written by Magdalene)

Beauregard is a former getaway driver who's trying to live straight, but when his mechanic shop is suffering, he of course takes on One Last Job that seems simple but ends up much more complicated. It's like Fast and Furious (I think? Only seen one) except literary and with a character study. Beauregard is obviously doing bad things, but he cares so much about his wife and kids it's hard not to see the good in him. I don't care about car chase scenes, but these were intense. It's not an easy read, but I think it'll stick with me.
