I genuinely like this show, but holy crap am I okay with never seeing these damn children ever again. I just cannot relate to people who are filthy rich fighting over a *job.* You'd see me sell and move to Maui the second I could. You know who the real winner was? Connor! Because he spent money on things that made him happy and never worked a day in his life!
Anyways, that aside, this season is much like the others, which is mostly a good thing. That said, I think this show was wearing on me and I'm glad to see it finished. It's got the dark humor, the snappy dialogue, the high stakes, the set pieces, the acting, and the glorious music, but it still has zero likeable characters. That's somehow been okay thus far, but this was the end of the line for me. Another season and it would have been too much. I can only watch these kids change sides so many times.
And I guess on that note, I'll just quickly add that I felt the drama felt a litttttle contrived this season, or more than in others. Just people making silly decisions for the sake of tension. They did it to pretty good effect, but looking back, it's hard to understand the rationale. Especially in the finale, which was a phenomenal episode, some decisions felt a little rash or undercooked, even for them.
Anyways, I still liked this show. I love Greg, Kendall, Frank, Karl, and I loved Tom here. But I really didn't love Matsson (I just don't love Skarsgard?) and I detested Shiv and Roman. When 2/3 of the main characters are so unwatchable, it can make for a bumpy ride.
This show, to me, was a lot like Mad Men where I can see the craft, but I'm not sure I love it. However I enjoyed this one more mostly because it was snappier and funny. Obviously an all-timer of a show, but not one I'd readily recommend to just anyone.
