I'm Glad My Mom Died - Jennette McCurdy
⭐ 9.0/10

I finally felt ready to read this book, and then I read it all in one day! This book was THE book of 2022, probably because of the sensational story - child actress McCurdy from iCarly reveals how she got into acting by being forced into it by her manipulative and abusive mother. It's written in vignettes as she shows snapshots into her life, mostly focusing on her relationship with her mother, her body dysmorphia and eating disorders. It's intense and sad and compulsively readable. I just wish she had actually talked more about being glad her mom died and how statements like that are so taboo.
