This book was made for me - a book about linguistics and how it intersects with things like gender and sexuality, but told in a very easy-to-read, conversational way that also makes it fun to read/listen to. It mostly addresses feminism and language, so things like how we talk about women, common criticisms of how women speak, and the swear words we use related to gender and sex. I also enjoyed and appreciated the chapter about the concept of "sounding gay". Very fun for a nerd like me, but I still felt like the author knew what she was talking about, and it gave me lots to think about, like the words I use and how our language shapes our worldview.
