I've never really had strong feelings about this show because it's a show about rich annoying people and who really cares about them (a lot of people, allegedly...)? That said, I was still pretty excited to see this show was back. Also, the nicest thing I think I can say is that I was always content to watch the next episode since it released.

But I think it's clear this show was a bit of a step down from previous seasons. The show hangs its hat on its quality writing and nice set pieces. I thought the writing was noticeably weaker here, even cheesy sometimes, and because we're all the way up to the mid 90s, the historical set pieces aren't quite as impressive. This show included a lot more drama, as these were dramatic times in real life, but because the writing wasn't as sharp I sometimes started to feel soapy.

There are a couple other negatives, like the weird emphasis on the seemingly inconsequential Egyptian family, but on the whole I think I still enjoy this show. It's still pretty and a cool way to revisit historical events.
