The Distant Hours - Kate Morton
⭐ 8.5/10
(Originally written by Magdalene)
Another classic Kate Morton novel with a secret in the past that slowly gets unraveled and more complex until it all comes together at the end. I thought this was a perfect read for fall, since the gothic-inspired story and slow pace perfectly suits the weather. Edie tries to find out what really happened when her mom lived in a castle during the war, which still houses the three elderly spinster daughters of a famous author. Milderhurst Castle, which is unfortunately not real, plays a huge role in this story, and we slowly find out all its secrets. The final reveal is more of an exhale than a big shock, but it was still a great story of sisters and secrets and mistakes.
