Malcolm in the Middle (season 7)

⭐ 10.0/10

Boy I am truly and sincerely sad to be done this show. What started as a one-episode nostalgia chase turned into summer-long love affair. I really didn't think I'd love it, but can confidently say that this is seven full seasons of pure genius with very little slippage as you go along.

Again, this was a fantastic season. They didn't really know this show was getting cancelled, so the finale doesn't quite have that emotional punch, but there is definitely some feeling of closure and I'm happy about that. Burning Man, Lois Strikes Back, Jessica Stays over... There are some classics here! Some episodes this season that can compete with anything in the show.

I was also happy to read about what a huge influence this show had on modern sitcoms. Dropping the laugh track, the cold open and characters talking to the camera were all a big deal back then! I love the lower-middle class stuff, love the power tripping mom, love the aloof dad (Hal was by far the best character by the end) and I love how it came together. Masterpiece. The score perhaps reflects the series more than just this specific season, but I just feel I need another 10 in here to emphasize what a classic this is and where it lands on my all-time list.
