Finding Neverland

⭐ 8.5/10

A classic from my poster that I'd never watched before. Johnny Depp, featuring a beautiful Scottish accent, plays the writer of Peter Pan as he befriends a group of kids that eventually inspire the play. Johnny Depp is married, so it's quite unfortunate that the children's mother is Kate Winslet, who I, in fact, would discard my wife for in a heartbeat.

I really liked this one. I definitely think the way Depp's character treats his wife is awful, but aside from that I think this movie is full of charm and sweetness. It's really carried by it's performances because otherwise this movie wouldn't be all that interesting. But Depp is so sexy here, Winslet so angelic, and then of course a great performance by the child prodigy Freddie Highmore who can cry real tears.

Nobody is a bigger hater of children than me, but I will admit this movie was a very nice reminder of a child's innocence, creativity and spontaneity. I was surprised with how emotional I felt by the end.

This movie is good, but Depp nailing the accent makes it great. I'm not joking.
