South! - Ernest Shackleton

⭐ 8.0/10

I'm way behind on my weviews, but let's start with all the boat books I've read! After reading Endurance, this is all I care about now. South! is the story of the journey published by its leader, Shackleton, and I'm a big fan of firsthand accounts, so I was IN. Granted, this guy is not a poet. Also, he was trying to appeal to people interested in polar exploration. So it's a LOT of minute-by-minute recollections of the ice conditions, their longitude and latitude, what direction the wind was coming from, etc. Honestly, it was kind of fun to hear about. There wasn't a whole lot in this book that wasn't in the first one I read, but it was very cool to hear it straight from the guy who pulled it off. What a legend.
