Obi-Wan Kenobi

Good heavens this show is bad, and coming off the rough Boba season made it even more disappointing. I get it, I'm a spoiled Star Wars fan who likes something that is basically for children. But you know what, no. I'm watching a Star Wars cartoon right now that make me feel more emotional than this show, which is essentially the followup to one of the greatest movie theater experiences of my life. So I will not accept that this is a kids show so it can suck, because Mandalorian is amazing and the cartoons are better than this.
The show basically brings nothing new to the story, and if anything just introduces weird continuity things. Luke and Leia sure lives exciting childhoods and have forgotten a lot but the time the movies come along. The motivations of the characters are completely opaque and uninteresting, and they try to introduce stakes that are just completely flat. Characters we have no connection to die and they milk it for the terrible emotional moments, yet TWO different people get stabbed with lightsabers and survive for unexplainable reasons. What are we even doing here.
They couldn't even nail the climactic episode, basically rerunning what happened last time the two characters squared off with Obi making the exact same choice. We know Vader has to live, so give us an interesting story arc, not just a pseudo-revenge story that we know the ending of.
Also, the first 2 episodes are so brutal, with this annoying classic precocious child actress making everyone say "you really remind me of someone..." all longingly. We get it! I remember her mom too! Show me something new!
Also, the effects. Why does Mandalorian look so cool and the best scenes here are so bland? In the best moments they went full on shaky cam, and in the moments that are meant to be awe-inspiring the scale looks way off. I am ranting, but I am completely flabbergasted at how bad this was compared to the potential it had.
6 is generous, but it wasn't as bad as Boba. Wish this had the Mando interludes to keep me going.
