The Wheel of Time - Season 1

I was pretty into this show to start. Pretty normal fantasy tropes, but I'm not very hard to please and was pretty engaged in the escape into the wilderness. But by the middle of the season I fell the show fell into a rut that it never escaped from. There was like three episodes of the characters I didn't really care about just talking in rooms, filling in questions I wasn't really asking.
The last few episodes picked up the pace a bit, but by then I just had a hard time investing. There were a few instances where they tried hard to manufacture some feelings but it just wasn't landing for me. Can't really put my finger on exactly the reason I didn't care too much. Even the big reveals just seemed so rushed and never worked up to. Why do I care that Rand is the dragon? I don't even know this guy, he's hardly even been on my screen after a full season.
There are a few others negatives, like Perrin being a pretty poor actor or character (hard to tell which), and in general this show feeling a little cheap and like it's adults playing dress up without really crafting an interesting world. But with that said, I still looked forward to watching every week and enjoyed the conversation around it. I am not ever going to read the books so I'm not invested in whether it follows it or not, yet the story choices and alterations just seemed weird. I'll continue to watch, but can't I'm counting down the days till next season.
