Dead Voices - Katherine Arden

⭐ 8.5/10

(Originally written by Rebecca)

This is the sequel to Small Spaces, which I read in October, and it was perfect for the wintry weather we've been having. It's definitely a spooky book, and its intended for a younger audience but I was SPOOKED. I listened to it on audiobook which I think both added to it in some ways and took away in others. It follows the same group of kids as the first book, facing another scary encounter in a snowy ski lodge, but this one centred more around ghosts, which really got me. Once again, there were parts that I felt the author really built up and then just sort of dropped disappointingly, but overall I really enjoyed it and it was the perfect level of scary for me. And I really love the characters! Though I sometimes got the two main characters confused, but maybe that was because the narrator had the same voice for them both. Regardless, I really enjoyed it.
