Uncharted: Lost Legacy
⭐ 8.5/10

This game is a standalone spinoff from the main Uncharted series, and rather than playing Nathan Drake you play as his sexy former love interest Chloe. I wasn't totally sold in the first hour or so because it mostly felt like I was just going through the motions of all the other Uncharted games, but the story was a bit more dull and the characters not as interesting. But as the game went on, I was mostly just reminded how much I love the Uncharted formula. It really doesn't do anything the other games haven't, but that's okay! I'm totally down to play these shorter adventure games as many times as they will let me. This game is definitely a big step up from uncharted 1-3, though to me a step down from 4. It's a great summer game, though short of a masterpiece.
A part of Uncharted that I love is the virtual tourism. This game is set in Indian forests, which were stunningly beautiful, on par with anything I've ever played. But where the other games let you travel the world, this one sticks to one major location. It's fine, because the game was a little shorter, but I did wish there was a touch more variety.
As for gameplay, this was just classic stuff. The shooting was okay, the platforming was fine, and the puzzles were harder this time around, but didn't always feel rewarding. I also found there to be a lot of times where I couldn't find where to go next, which was especially annoying during chase scenes because the pressure is so high.
But the main draw of Uncharted is the story and cinematics, and in those regards this game was a triumph. The whole last hour was white knuckle, non-stop mind melting action. I can't emphasize enough how cool it feels to be the action hero of a movie like this. The characters definitely grew on me by the end, especially when a beloved character came in from a previous game to lay on the charm. This game is awesome. If you have access to a PS4, this game and 4 are must-plays for me.
