The Name of the Wind - by Patrick Rothfuss

⭐ 8.0/10

So, i did really enjoy reading this but i thought the climax of this book wasn't great. It is however book one of a trilogy so i'm hoping there is better stuff to come.

The main character is currently running an inn and seems to be in hiding for a reason we aren't quite sure of yet. But the book is him telling his story to a scribe who is visiting the inn. His story starts as a very young boy traveling with his parents, some devastating things happen to him that are so incredibly sad and he lives by himself for years after. He eventually attends a university where he learns more about himself, the arcane arts, runes, and stuff like the use of 'sympathy', and trying to learn more about 'the Chandrian'.

I appreciated that the author took the time to explain how some of the magic worked, the mindset behind it but i would of liked to see more development in how the magic is used.

Overall, it was fun to read this one so i'm moving on to book two.
