A Desolation Called Peace - Arkady Martine

⭐ 8.0/10

(Originally written by Will)

This is the sequel to "A Memory Called Empire", which won the Hugo in 2020. And it was a really solid follow up!

It's a space sci-fi that focuses on how dominant cultures affect minorities, has a ton of politics, and also adds an alien first-contact scenario in this second book.

I think it's intended to be a trilogy, but the first two books each stand pretty well on their own - there's a few loose ends remaining, but I don't feel like I have to read the next book to get a resolution.
