The Traitor’s Blade - Kevin Sands

⭐ 8.5/10

This is book 5 of The Blackthorn Key Series. I read the first one at the beginning of the pandemic and here we are, almost a year later, reading the fifth one, still in a pandemic (he did not release all 5 within this year).

It was good! It’s set right after the plague in London so that was fun and interesting to read about. The main character Christopher has been enlisted to join the King’s ranks and becomes the apprentice of the spymaster! All while still trying to become a master in apothecary.

The mystery was great, the puzzles were interesting and the characters all grew and developed nicely. There was a small touch of a crush which was perfect.

It was also cool to learn about some history. Like the Knights Templar, King Charles, and so on. The author also set up a great bad guy in the background that all seems to be boiling and ready to spill over. The stakes have never been higher.

My one complaint is I wish the main characters were all about 3-4 years older. They are 14 years old and it’s just too young. However, I’m excited to see where it goes!
