This book is about Kristin, who, because of an awkward and painful encounter with her boyfriend, goes to a gynecologist and discovers that she's intersex. This makes her spiral into an identity crisis, and things get even worse when the whole school finds out.
This book was super interesting, and was very informative about what it means to be intersex, an aspect of the LGBTQ spectrum that is often ignored. Kristin has always considered herself to be a straight girl, so what does it mean that she has some "boy parts"? It's also about the different ways other people react to her news and how they treat her. It's told in the first person, and Kristin is very much a 17-year-old girl, so it's not the most sophisticated book or conversation about the topic. But it felt to me like a realistic portrayal of what a young girl in this situation would go through and think.
