It’s A Wonderful Life

Alright in my last review I said I could never give a Christmas movie more than an 8, but I was wrong. This is a true classic that really holds up. For whatever reason I didn't love it on the first watches, probably because we usually watch it at midnight on Christmas Eve and I fall asleep. We started it earlier this year and what a treat.
It is a very heartfelt story, and his little micro-explanations on how the economy of their town works are so wholesome. I laughed a bunch, and was moved by the ending. The age progression throughout is a bit hard to track, but Jimmy Stewart playing a guy who constantly does the right thing and is never rewarded for it is pretty amazing to watch, and it makes his eventual break understandable.
I also love the framing device, a guardian angle watching his life so that he can show up for him when he needs him most. The end has some Christmas Carol vibes as well, given what the main character goes through. Oh and the villain, a rich snob who is so easy to hate, is pretty timeless. Just a genius movie, and pretty mind blowing that it was made like 75 years ago. A must-watch in your Christmas movie repertoire!
