Superstore (season 1)

⭐ 8.0/10

I'd heard of this show just a few times, especially when people were discussing under-the-radar shows. It's a comedy, and that's what I was in the mood for, so I finally checked it. And I was very pleasantly surprised!

It's a workplace sitcom, set in a big box superstore. The setup is familiar, of course (think The Office or Brooklyn Nine-Nine), with its super weird characters and ridiculous situations. But it's even more familiar, because we've all been in those stores, and we all probably know someone who works in one.

It doesn't do anything very new, but I found it very funny, and I appreciate the jabs it takes at consumerist America. I love these tiny cut scenes it includes of normal people doing ridiculous things in the store, like taking naps on the couches. This was only the first season, with 10 episodes or so, and although I did think it was funny right away, I expect it will still improve as it settles into its groove. This show isn't as well-known as The Office, Community, or Parks and Rec, but if you're done those and looking for something similar, I think this will hit the spot.
