I’ve been wanting to watch this for a while now because I really like Spike Lee and the main actor. This movie was wild! Even more so considering this is based on a true story.

It’s hard to believe that a time like that existed. The whole time I was watching I felt like I could look at it in the past, but then they include some footage from 2017, and could’ve included incidents from this year and it’s very evident that it isn’t an issue of the past.

Having read MLK’s bio also added some flesh to the movie because I recognized a lot of the names and the movements that were happening.

I truly feel like I don’t understand the black experience but this movie helped me to gain at least some deeper insight. People will forever have to live with the fact that they voted for the same president as David Duke and that is possibly the most shameful thing I can think of.
