Things Fall Apart - Chinua Achebe

I read this book for one of my classes but was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It was a quick read with a powerful message.

The book is about a man in an African village who lives his life by his strength and his anger. It is richly African but talks about the universal qualities among all people.

The story is split into two parts: before the white man came and after. Pretty tragic to read from an African perspective what the white man did to them in the name of Christ, but also reminded me that going forward we have to be careful in the way we contextualize the gospel. A fascinating, cultural read about life, power, and tragedy.
