SteamWorld Dig

⭐ 7.5/10

I bought this game because it was super cheap on sale (it still is!!) and I've heard the sequel is really great. I had pretty low expectations so the game really exceeded them. It's an indie game where you play as this cute little robot miner in the old west, and the whole game has you digging deeper in the mine to find some secret. It has this fun loop where you get gems along the way, return to the surface, buy upgrades, and go back down where you can dig even faster and deeper. It's pretty addictive. It felt a bit like a phone game in that way with really quick rewards and sense of progress, but the game is only 5 hours long so it can't ruin your life.

It's got a cool system, fun puzzles, platforming, and even one decent boss fight. If you're looking for a cute, cheap, simple yet rewarding game, this one has my stamp of approval. I'm really looking forward to the sequel.
