My Brilliant Friend - Elena Ferrante

I really loved reading this book. I know it sounds silly but I really romanticize Italy after our travels there. I liked recognizing names and sights and feeling like I could see it all in my head as I read.

I inhaled the novel, and it took me until the end of the book to recognize myself and my best friend in the two main characters. She really captures the way a person you love and admire can become a strangely driving and defining force in life.

It was beautiful and heart-breaking and real and I’m just so excited to see their lives unfold in the next few books.
