I'm not sure I've seen a Shirley Temple movie before this, but boy she really is charmer like they say. I really loved the classic premise here. Shirley comes into contact with lots of grumpy, cynical people but her innocence and adorableness eventually breaks through and wins them over. This is just a nice movie set in an idyllic area with lots of wholesomeness all around, and promotes old fashion American values like saying your prayers and being a good little girl. I really can't say why exactly I liked it more than something like E.T., but it was just so easy to root for cute little Shirley Temple.
