Cinderella (2015)

⭐ 6.0/10

If you really loved the original Cinderella but wanted a 2 hour version with an origin story about her parents and a deep-dive how she got (and embraced) the name "Cinderella", then this movie is for you. Can't say I remember much about the original, but I do know that there is some singing, and a mouse that calls her "Cinderellie", and I really missed both these things.

Actually though, I didn't think this movie was terrible. More about the relationship she had with her parents makes the evil new family much more heartbreaking. And Cate Blanchett is a pretty great evil step mom, though distractingly too good looking.

Speaking of distractingly good looking, boy oh boy does Robb Stark clean up nice! I felt like asking Jess to close her eyes and her ears, he is just so gosh darn charming.

Anyways, I have been losing sleep over the score for this one, and giving it the same score as "The Dark Knight Rises" feels like cause for having my WeView account revoked. But much like Cinderella I must have courage, so here we are.
