Babies
⭐ 7.5/10

I watched this documentary for one of my classes but thought it was really fascinating. It follows 4 different babies from birth to their first birthday, but in 4 different locations: Mongolia, Namibia, Tokyo, and San Francisco.
The unique aspect of this doc was that it had no narrative. I actually like that aspect of it because it left it open ended, there was no one assigning value to the different lifestyles, and it forced me to be more observant because someone wasn’t telling me what was going on.
It was so interesting to see the vast contrasts and the startling similarities. It reminded me that humanity is at the same time so similar yet vastly different.
I would say parents might enjoy this a bit more but honestly I think it’s a great case study for anyone to observe and enjoy. I do think it reminded me that I don’t ever want children.
