This book is by a Mennonite woman pastor (gasp!). She sounds incredible, and I really want to meet her. I got major RHE vibes which also made me cry throughout the book a lot - but the writing is also beautiful and really connects with you.
There were some really great stories in this book. She does the thing where she starts off with a bible story, then tells a personal story and finishes with some profound truth that incorporates both stories. She really did help me see God in the Old Testament.
Here is an excerpt that I though fits well to describe it: “When Christians read the Old Testament, we do so because an act of grace has found its way to us: God calling us a friend when once we were far from God. The gift of the Old Testament is that it tells us this story over and over again. Once when we were far away God came for us, and loved us, and showed us the way to be free.”
