A Boy Called Bat - Elana K. Arnold

⭐ 9.0/10

This middle-grade book skews even younger than I usually read, as Bat is only in grade 3. But it's real cute. Bat is on the autism spectrum and is obsessed with animals, and is super psyched when his vet mom brings home a baby skunk. The book is mostly about Bat trying to convince his mom he's the best caretaker for the skunk, but it's also about him making his first friend and growing in other ways. Short and sweet.
