This is a collection of funny essays by a fat, queer, black woman who self-identifies as a piece of human garbage. Like, so lazy, a slob, and incompetent, but also struggling with a few chronic diseases and depression. At first I was a little put off by how much of a mess she is, but then I ended up appreciating how honest she is, and that she was admitting to doing and thinking so many embarrassing things that I also think/do. She talks a lot about her terrible love life, and also diarrhea, but that's part of her chronic illness and so very relevant for her. She also grew up extremely poor and still is pretty poor because she doesn't like working (relateable), and her stories of the struggle just got me.
This book had so many lol moments, and sometimes I would re-listen to a chapter with Becky, just like watching stand-up together. She's pretty crass, but nothing I couldn't handle. And just so brutally honest to the point of TMI. I thought almost all of her essays were just hilarious. If you like Jenny Lawson, her level of humour is about the same.
