The Westing Game - Ellen Raskin

⭐ 9.5/10

(Originally written by Rebecca)

Read this book when I was 13ish, randomly thought about it yesterday, decided to reread out loud with Maggie over the span of 12 hours. Absolutely worth it. One of the first mysteries I read, about 16 people being told they're the heirs of a rich man who's just died, and that one of them took his life--and if they can solve the mystery, they get the $200 mil. My mind was blown at the time, and it really held up. I was making guesses the entire time, and loved piecing things together and being surprised by new clues. I vaguely remembered a few details, which was nice because I didn't feel so confused at the end. It's a big ensemble cast but you really get to know all of them. A quick read, but still really satisfying, and surprisingly funny! Warning for some 70s-typical language surrounding disabilities, ha.
