I’m re-reading these in preparation for the new book, and it may be possible I love them even more now. This series is easily in my top 10 all time favourite books. Since reading them for the first time I have read countless analysis on the series that makes me appreciate them even more.
Miss Collins really is a genius, and I think she has honed her craft expertly. The world is incredible. It’s far enough from realty that it’s enjoyable but also close enough that it makes it feel real, as if it could happen in real life. The characters are multi-dimensional, and she does a great job of giving non conventional gender roles to her characters: Katniss comes off as expression-less and stoic, whereas Peeta is vulnerable and soft.
I truly feel like this may be the best book written of my generation. Or at least the 2000s. I still got chills when she volunteered and when Rue died. Slide into my DMs for further THG discourse plz
