The Hobbit (Revised Edition) - J.R.R Tolkien, David Wenzel, Chuck Dixon

⭐ 9.0/10

(Originally written by Joseph)

This is the graphic novel adaptation of the Hobbit. It was a great way to reread The Hobbit which was something I'd been meaning to do. The illustrations are fantastic, and of course the story is an all-time classic. I especially appreciated on reread how there is a bit of complexity to the plot, and it doesn't just end how you would think it would if you were 10 pages into a children's novel.

With that that, my favorite part of The Hobbit above anything has always been Tolkien's writing style, and I felt like the adaptation lost some of that. Maybe I'm just a purist, but I missed some of the fun meanderings and dialogue from the original. Still, an awesome book overall, but falls a tad short of the 10 I'd give the original.
