The Half Of It

⭐ 8.5/10

I cried all 3 times I saw the trailer for this movie so I was really excited to watch it, but to be honest I liked the movie I thought it would be more than the actual thing. A bit of a spin on an old trope (helping someone get their crush to fall in love with them, and then falling for the crush yourself) which I liked more than usual. The trailer said "not every love story is a romance" and that's my FAVOURITE IDEA and I wish they had actually... really focused on that. But it was still really good! I liked the way it focused on themes of friendship and being seen and subverted expectations, but wished for more of all three. Both leads were super charming, and I did tear up a couple times. Good, sweet, but not everything I wished for.
