This is a classic Chinese film and I watched it because I appreciate how other cultures have unique artistic output. Jk, it's a Jackie Chan movie and I watched it cuz I love watching Jackie kick ass. This was one of his earliest movies, and by many considered his best. I'll admit, the plot and didn't really do it for me, mostly because I could hardly tell any characters apart and couldn't differentiate their names, so when it was revealed that certain characters were double agents, I was mostly just trying to remember who was on what side in the first place. The comedy aspect also didn't really do it as there were some very dated jokes, and most of the funny scenes had nothing to do with the plot. It was basically like 15 minute comedy intermissions.

But the action really comes through. The last 30 minutes is one mind melting fight scene with all the classic Jackie elements. It only made me appreciate it more when I learned that he almost died like three times while filming it. Seriously, the guy is insane, and the realness of the stunts add a lot. You just have to watch the bloopers that roll during the credits to appreciate how painstaking getting those shots must have been.
