El Deafo - Cece Bell

⭐ 9.0/10

(Originally written by Magdalene)

A semi-autobiographical graphic novel about a girl (except everyone is anthropomorphized bunnies) who loses her hearing due to illness at a young age, and has to deal with getting hearing aids, learning to lip read, and be "that deaf girl." She struggles to make true friends because kids just don't know how to treat a deaf person. I think it's a great way to introduce kids to people with different disabilities and how to treat them. And I genuinely was rooting for her to make a great friend!
