The Downstairs Girl - Stacy Lee

  1. As Maggie stated in her review, an interesting story from the point of view of a Chinese American during the segregation. Unique story, and I enjoyed it for the most part, but the reader (on audiobook) was too dramatic so it was hard to enjoy it to its fullest. Also, *spoiler ahead* I find it hard to believe that the when the family found out they'd been living in the basement and listening in on their lives, that they wouldn't have been more upset/embarrassed by the fact that she had been eavesdropping on them for over a decade. Like, I'd freak out if I found out someone had been listening in on me for a day without my knowledge! They just accepted it and embraced the two of them into their family. As if.
