The Sports Gene - David Epstein

⭐ 9.5/10

(Originally written by Joseph)

This is a book about how and to what degree genetics influence athletic performance (why Jamaicans are good sprinters, Kenyans good Marathon runners, etc). This is the second Epstein book I've read and he's quickly becoming my favorite journalist. Everything in this book was is incredibly interesting and enlightening. I feel like I'll never view sports the same way again. Even if you have little interests in sports, I feel like anyone would find this book interesting as it gives tons of insight into genetics and why cultures developed the way they did. It just missed a 10 because I just can't be the guy who gives a sports book a perfect score 🤷‍♂️
