The Children of Hurin - JRR Tolkien

⭐ 10.0/10

This was technically a reread, though a unique experience for me because I listened to it on audiobook as read by the great Christopher Lee. I wanted to appear unbiased in this review, but I must say this book is deeply underrated! The ancient-tale writing style and the heart wrenching manner of the book, upon reread, forced me to consider this as my second favorite work by Tolkien behind only LOTR. It is absolutely not for everyone and you almost have to be a Tolkien fan beforehand to enjoy it, but in terms of written fantasy, this is some of the best. Extra credit for Lee, although he reads super slow and kinda makes every voice sound like Saruman...
