Fall of Gondolin - JRR Tolkien

⭐ 7.0/10

This is not so much a story, but more a commentary about the development of this tale that Tolkien never finished. The story itself is an interesting enough read, though not one of my favorites by Tolkien, and there are essentially 3 iterations of it. The commentary honestly just feels a little unnecessary, or at least doesn't deserve it's own book. I'm a big Tolkien fan and even I was pretty uninterested in much of the commentary. I really wish Christopher Tolkien would have just taken the liberties necessary to write one cohesive story much like Hurin.
