All the Crooked Saints - Maggie Stiefvater

⭐ 7.0/10

(Originally written by Magdalene)

This book is weird. I think in a good way? It's magical realism, where miracles exist, but first might turn you into a giant or make a rain cloud rain on you constantly to expose your inner darkness.

So it's definitely unique, and it's told in a way that feels like a fable. It took me a while to get into it and figure out what was going on, but it eventually speeds up. Stiefvater is a talented writer, and I've loved some of her other work. But while I enjoyed the uniqueness and idea of this one, it just felt a little hollow, and some ideas weren't fleshed out enough. Also it has all latinx characters, and Stiefvater is not Latina, so that was concerning for me.
